Raymond "Ray" D. Greer, 85, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, May 30, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, June 3, 2019 at Living Grace United Methodist Church 3969 Edgewood Circle Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Robert McDaniel officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Greer was born October 1, 1933 in Columbus, GA son of the late Jessie William Greer and Callie Simmons Greer. He worked as a car inspector for Southern Railroad for 43 years. Known as the "tea man" at church, he was a member of Living Grace United Methodist Church and the Workers Sunday school class, loved his church and church family. Mr. Greer loved to fish, spend time with his family and was the Mayor of Yates Drive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Jackson Greer and daughter, Pam Patterson.
Survivors include his daughters, Sandra Montgomery of Columbus, GA, Kathy Yarbrough (Bob) of Cusseta, GA and Cindy Simmons of Butler, GA, son, Raymond Greer, Jr. of Columbus, GA, brother, Doug Greer of Columbus, GA, sister, Loette Morgan (Joe) of Abbeville, AL, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Living Grace UMC or to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital www.stjude.org.
