Dr. Rembert Andrew Williams, MD, 62, of Salem, AL died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at his home.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Cascade Hills Church 727 54th St. Columbus, GA 31904 with Dr. Bill Purvis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Dr. Williams was born March 3, 1955 in Memphis, TN son of Duncan Henderson Williams, Jr. of Memphis, TN and the late Marianne Rockett Williams. He graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. He received his MD from Louisiana State University.
He was board certified in Family Practice with a 30-year career in Emergency Medicine. He was the Regional Medical Officer and Physician for TeamHealth SE working at Midtown Medical Center, formerly TMC, for nearly 30 years and then St. Francis until his illness. He was the Medical Director of Sexual Assault Services, Site Surveyor for the State of Georgia Trauma, Medical Control Director of Columbus Fire and EMS, and EMSDAC for State of Georgia Office of EMS.
Dr. Williams is survived by his father, Duncan Henderson Williams, Jr. (Beverly) of Memphis, TN, his son, Caleb Andrew Williams of Memphis, TN, brothers, Duncan Henderson Williams, III (Kathy) of Columbus, GA and Marklin Williams (Laura Lee) of Scottsdale, AZ, friend and confidant, Lisa Futrell of Midland, GA, nieces and nephews, Sarah Ham (Jonathan), Duncan Williams IV, Marian Williams and Ellen Williams, and other family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the John B. Amos Cancer Center for Pancreatic Enzyme Replacement Therapy (PERT) in memory of Dr. Drew Williams at 707 Center St. Suite 100 Columbus, GA 31901.
