Ret. MSG Robert Anthony Lahl, 77, of Midland, GA, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. David Helms officiating. A private interment will be held at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Ret. MSG Lahl was born October 23, 1937 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, son of the late Ruth Lahl. He served in the United States Army for over 20 years, including a tour in Vietnam. He retired after 25 years from the Columbus Consolidated Government Rain Water Management division. Ret. MSG Lahl was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and the Bethesda Choir.
Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lahl.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Lahl of Midland, GA; children, Dennis Anthony Lahl (Lyndi) of Rockville, MD, Robert Charles Lahl (Connie) of Atlanta, GA, Kim Chadwick (Chuck) of Midland, GA, Patti Davis of Albany, GA, Charles Williams (Angie) of Cataula, GA, and Frank Robinson Williams, III (Pam), of Midland, TX; his half sister, Phyllis Penkwitz of Germantown, WI; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road Columbus, GA 31909 or Bethesda Baptist Church Food Bank, 3830 Georgia 85, Ellerslie, GA 31807.
