Ret. SFC William Eugene
Bronson
June 11, 1935 – May 27, 2026
Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
William “Bill” Bronson, 90, of Cataula, Georgia, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 27, 2026.
Bill was born on June 11, 1935, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and later grew up in Maine, where he met the love of his life, Marjorie. He proposed soon after, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, loyalty, and family.
A man of few words, Bill lived a life defined by kindness through actions rather than speeches. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose steady presence brought comfort, happiness, and strength to those who loved him.
Bill proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Army and was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Following his military retirement, he moved south to escape the cold winters and snow, eventually settling in Harris County in 1978, where he found peace in country living.
Over the years, Bill enjoyed woodworking and built countless pieces by hand. He and Marjorie spent many happy years bowling together and participating in bowling leagues. Bill loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed relaxing in the “hooch” he built himself, where he could sit quietly, enjoy nature, watch his beloved Atlanta Braves, and spend time watching his favorite Westerns.
Though stubborn at times, Bill’s love for his family never wavered. Above all else, “Papa Bill” was always there when his family needed him most.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Vicki, and beloved granddaughter, Alx; his son, James; grandchildren Samantha, Rebecca, Jonathan, and Kristi; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie Rose Bronson.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Bill’s life on Friday, June 12, at McMullen Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Bill will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and unwavering love for his family.
