Ret. Major Carl Bernhard Fedde, 78, of Waverly Hall, GA died Monday, December 21, 2020 at Columbus Hospice House.

A private graveside service with Military Honors will be held Thursday December 31, 2020 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery with Rev. Edward Lowe officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, face coverings and social distancing will be required during the graveside service and visitation.

Carl was born July 23, 1942 in Norwalk, CT to the late Norman Andreas Fedde and Frances Eleanor Heins Fedde. He retired from the United States Army as a Major after 24 years and then was an Ammunitions Manager for 18 years. Carl lived his life in service to God, his country and family. He loved working with young soldiers, veterans and their families. He volunteered his time and knowledge at the National Infantry Museum. He was active with several Masonic lodges, and Trinity Episcopal Church helping people in any way he was needed.  Carl was kind, caring and respectful of everyone and respected by everyone. He saw something good in every person he met. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Leslie Fedde of Waverly Hall, GA, brother, Erik Fedde of Odenville, AL, sister, Eleanor Grant (Richard) of LaFayette, IN, daughters, Angela N. Stephens (Chris) of Columbus, GA, Virginia L. Turner (Matt) of Columbus, GA, granddaughters, Mackinzey B. Stephens, Presleigh R. Stephens and Emilee M. Turner all of Columbus GA, father-in-law, Richard F. Wright of Columbus, GA, sister-in-laws Connie A. Smith and Tammie J. Harper (Roy) of Columbus, GA, and brother-in-law Rodney A. Wright (Debbie) of Cummings, GA, as well as 3 step-children, Robbie Middlebrook of Pensacola, FL, Vince Middlebrook of Phenix City, AL, Sherry Middlebrook of Phenix City, AL, and numerous grandkids, multiple aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or the National Infantry Museum.
