Rex “Sonny” M. Hodges, Jr. 64, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Columbus Hospice.
Private Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Parkhill Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, face coverings and social distancing will be required during the graveside service.
Rex was born September 28, 1956 in Columbus, GA to Rex M. Hodges, Sr. and the late Lyra Drane Hodges. Rex retired after 37 years with Southern Home and Gardens in Montgomery, AL as a landscape manager and designer but has worked for Stovall and Company for the past year and half in sales. He was a very gifted and talented horticulturist. He loved to fish, play golf, was a graduate of the University of Georgia and a huge UGA Bulldog fan “Go Dawgs.” He returned back to Columbus, GA to be with his family he loved. His grandson Rex was the love of his life. He is loved by his friends and family as a kind, honest, and soft spoken man who had a strong faith in his Lord Jesus Christ. Other than his mother he is preceded in death by his sister Debbie Quintard.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Wanda Bunn Hodges of Columbus, GA, father, Rex M. Hodges, Sr. of Columbus, GA children, Erin Jackson of Montgomery, AL, Michael Carrico (Jaclyn) of Warner Robins, GA, sister, Sara Harper of Columbus, GA, grandson, Rex Jackson of Montgomery, AL, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members.
