Richard Lee Alford, 75, of Columbus, Georgia passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025 surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held following the service at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, Alabama.
Richard was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He loved his family immensely and was so proud of them all. He was passionate about being healthy and working out and you could find him daily at the gym even on his hardest days. He also was a 2nd degree black belt in Karate. Richard was an avid bow hunter and could not wait till deer season opened every year. He loved sitting in his deer stand listening to nature all around him, it brought him a sense of peace.
Richard loved being at the beach and eating great seafood. He enjoyed many trips with his family and closest friends to Panama City Beach and Grayton Beach Florida. He was known for his quiet strength, enduring work ethic and the love he held for his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Cyrel Jason Alford, mother, Jacqueline Peck Alford, sister, Jacqueline Lynn Pridgeon, brother-in-law, Charlie Pridgeon. He is survived by his loving wife, Julia Osbon Alford, children, Christy Alford Scrivner(Derek), son, Richard Jason Alford, stepdaughter, Nicole Regan Watson(Matthew), grandchildren, Christopher Scrivner(Loren), Kate Scrivner, Matthew Scrivner, Eli Scroggins, Micah Watson and Noah Watson, and two great-grandchildren, Woods Christopher Scrivner and Scottie Marie Scrivner. He is also survived by his nephew, Johnny Jenkins.
Richard will be remembered for the love he shared with his family and friends, his unwavering spirit, and the legacy he leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew him.
