Robert Russell Bradshaw “Rusty,” born January 26, 1957, passed away surrounded by loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother who left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Penny Bradshaw of Columbus, Georgia; his mother, Sue Patterson Bradshaw; his sister, Kelley Bradshaw Matlock (Duke); and his children, Jessica Bradshaw (Billy Turner), Courtney Howe (Austin), Emily McGruder (Shiloh), Hunter Bradshaw (Emily), Brianna Cail (Adam), and Tara Gualdarama (Matt).

He also leaves his grandchildren: Ethan O’Berry, Robert Vanderschoot, Alyssa Jamieson, John Vanderschoot, Lara Rafanan, Ashton McGruder, Eleanor Howe, and Callahan Howe.

Rusty was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Bradshaw; his brother, Greg Bradshaw; and his lifelong friend, Chuck.

A native of Columbus, Georgia, he graduated from Carver High School. He loved hunting, fishing, and time outdoors, and often shared stories of growing up in his hometown. He also had a deep love for his dogs, who were a constant source of companionship and joy.

He valued his work and the people he called his “crew.” He enjoyed cooking for his family, meals were never rushed and often didn’t make it to the table until 9 p.m., but they were always worth the wait and time spent together.

Above all, Rusty was a fiercely supportive father. He often said he would support his children no matter what path they chose, even if they wanted to drive a trash truck just because they liked the sound of it beeping while backing up. That unwavering encouragement defined the way he loved his family.

He will be remembered for his steady presence, his humor, and the many memories he created with those closest to him. His legacy lives on in the lives of his children and grandchildren, and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
