Rosina Braswell, living a purposeful and determined life passed away on January 30, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on February 8, 1928, Rosina lived a life that will be cherished by her family and community. She resided in Chattahoochee County for 65 years.
Rosina was one of the first women to serve as a Forest Fire Tower person for the State of Georgia Forestry Commission, breaking barriers and setting a precedent for future generations of women in the field. Her dedication to the environment was mirrored by her nurturing nature, evident not only in her profession but also in her hobbies, which included a love for gardening and caring for her yard.
Rosina is survived by her beloved children, Siegfried Gatty, Mary Braswell, Betty Temple, Fred Braswell Jr., (Dawn) and Joan Michelson. She was immensely proud of her family, which includes 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Each member of her family was a source of joy and pride for her, reflecting the love and values she instilled in them throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Braswell Sr., her grandson, Alexander Landon, and her daughter-in-law, Patti Braswell and Son in Law, Colonel Patrick Michelson. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of her family, serving as a reminder of the love that bound them together.
As we remember Rosina Braswell, we celebrate a life well-lived characterized by significant accomplishments, unwavering support for her loved ones, and a gentle spirit that touched all who knew her. Her legacy will continue through her family and the many lives she impacted throughout her journey.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to Mrs. Elvira Organza Garcia, her live-in primary caregiver, Ms Sheryl Parker and Mrs. Katherine Brown. All caregivers displayed extreme care, professionalism and devotion.
A private graveside service will be held at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia
