Roy Neil Turpin

Roy Neil Turpin, 92, of Columbus GA, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Brookdale Senior Living.

A memorial service will be held 11:.00 AM, Friday, December 12, 2025 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive guests following the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

The youngest of 5 children, Roy was born January 31, 1933 in Clover South Carolina to James Curtis and Tennie Carpenter Turpin. A retired US army soldier, Roy served several overseas deployments during his military career. He would meet his wife, and the love of his life Maya Shimazu during a deployment to Japan.

After his retirement from the army, Roy would go on to work a long career as a maintenance technician at Tom's. Roy was a skilled carpenter, craftsman and artist. He loved travelling, and had many hobbies, golf in particular, and spent several years volunteering at Bull Creek golf course during his retirement.

Roy was preceded in death by his siblings Ruby, Helen, Ellen, and Gene, his only child Diana, and wife Maya. He is survived by his grandchildren Mieko, Worth and Benjamin Winchester.
