Ruby Jewell Carter, 93, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Columbus Hospice House.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 30, 2017 in Parkhill Cemetery with Mrs. Joy Norman officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Carter was born July 14, 1924 in Columbus, Georgia, daughter of the late Elias I. and Ruby Lee Henderson Jordan. She was the former owner of Jordan Bicycle Shop from 1969 to 1993 and was a life- time member of Real Life Church of God. Mrs. Carter loved spending time with her family and friends.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, John Elven Carter, Sr of whom passed away in 2009; her daughter, Patricia Ann Carter and sister, Audrey Tadlock, and one great-great-grandchild, Hunter Riley.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Carter Campbell (Bob) of Columbus, Ga., sons, John Elven Carter, Jr. (Nancy) of Geneva, Ga., Richard K. Carter, Sr. (Cindy) of Midland, Ga., Larry Dean Carter (Susan) of Phenix City, Al., 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to M25:40 (a homeless ministry), 5670 Whitesville Road Columbus, Ga. 31904
