Samuel Nutter Harvel, 84, of Columbus, GA passed away October 27, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, November 05, 2026, in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend Ken Dawson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 1:30 PM EST Thursday at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with full Military Honors.

Sam was born August 10, 1942, in Carbondale, WV son of the late Samuel Monroe Harvel and Ruth Harvel including Juanita Helen Nutter. Sam dedicated 50 years for the United States Military including Civil Service in Fort Benning, Georgia and was a Purple Heart Recipient and also a Vietnam Veteran. Sam was an exceptional man and is dearly loved and will be will be greatly missed.

Other than his parents, Sam is preceded in death by his brother, James Harvel.

Survivors include his wife, Louise E. Harvel of Columbus, GA; daughters, Christine Green of Phoenix, AZ, Margie M. Garcia of Phoenix, AZ Mary Ann Weidinger of Munich, Germany; son, James M. Harvel of Columbus, GA; six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
