Sandra Haney, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, at Orchard View Skilled Nursing Center, surrounded by love. Born on March 14, 1942, in Manchester, Georgia, Sandra touched the lives of many throughout her remarkable journey.
Sandra dedicated her professional life to Columbus Bank and Trust, where she spent 30 years in the Trust Department, adored by her colleagues. After retiring, she found happiness in, baking, nurturing her flower garden, indulging in puzzles, and spending cherished moments with her family. Her passion for baking was especially dear to her heart. She is fondly remembered for her kind and giving spirit, always prioritizing the happiness of others. Her famous coconut cake became a treasured delight among family, friends, and neighbors, who felt fortunate to enjoy anything she baked!
Sandra faced the challenges of Parkinson's disease with exceptional strength and resilience. She approached each hurdle with courage and grace, serving as a beacon of inspiration to all who knew her. Integral to her journey was the unwavering support of her devoted sister, Suzanne Cope, who remained by her side every step of the way. Their bond brought comfort and love during even the most difficult days.
Sandra leaves behind a loving family that includes her son, JD Haney (Pat) of Cataula, her granddaughter, Jessica Curley (Daniel) of Cataula, and her great-grandson, Connar. She is also survived by her caring sister, Suzanne Cope (Don) of Midland, as well as her very special niece, Margaret Spadaro, along with her son, Mason, of Columbus. Additionally, she is remembered by her nephew, Ben Cope (Sveta), and his son, Ace, residing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Sandra is preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late Donald Haney, and her parents, the late Benjamin and Lois Koon.
In keeping with Sandra's wishes, there will be no formal service. Her legacy of kindness, love, and the joy she brought to others will forever be cherished by those who knew her. In her honor, please feel free to make a donation to Paws Humane Society in Columbus.
