Sfc John Robert (Ret.) Ahlfield

John Robert Ahlfield, 76, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, January 1, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Ahlfield was born March 2, 1940 in Olney, IL son of Jerome Ralph Ahlfield of Olney, IL and the late Mary Jackson Ahlfield. He retired as Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army after serving two tours in the Vietnam War. He also retired from Coke after 22 years.
Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Della King.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Michels Ahlfield of Columbus, GA, son, Jerry Ahlfield (Cheryl) of Lebanon, IL, daughters, Sheryl Porter (Keith) of Midland, GA, Debbie Evermon (David) of Midland, GA and Pamela Lenhardt (John) of Pooler, GA, grandchildren, Brandon, Cody, Kristine, Danielle, Kristin, Valerie, Wesley and Jacob, and great grandchildren, Tyler, Kendall, Eli and Chase.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org or to the American Cancer Society 233 12th St. #710 Columbus, GA 31901.
