Shelia Jean Burdick Robinson 66, of Phenix City, AL. died Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Bethesda Baptist Church 3830 Ga. Hwy. 85 Ellerslie, Ga. with Rev. David Helms officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Mrs. Robinson was born September 25, 1948 in Opp, AL. daughter of Jewelene Nelson Burdick of Phenix City, AL. and the late Fred T. Burdick. She retired as a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and held various positions in the East Columbus Lions Club and was elected in 2003 District 18-E Governor of Lions International. For many years, Shelia was a chaperon for the Lions Club Washington D.C Educational Trip. Shelia was the Chairman of the Board for the Sexual Assault Support Center, Inc., formerly known as Columbus Rape Crisis. Shelia was a dedicated volunteer and trained victim advocate for the center. She was so dedicated to the cause that after years of watching her advocate and support victims, her husband Arnold participated in the advocate training class in order to become a trained advocate with her.
Other than her father, Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Robinson, sister; Debie Sheppard and niece Melinda Dawn Sheppard.
Survivors include her mother, Jewelene Nelson Burdick of Phenix City, AL., son; Hank Standridge of Columbus, GA., brother; Tommie Burdick (Bonnie) of Cincinnati, OH., sisters; Kay Lawson of Andalusia, AL., Freda Barton of Opp, AL., niece; Dbie Anna Johnson and nephew, William Ross Burdick both of Cincinnati, OH.
