Sherry Jolene Gossett, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, began her heavenly journey on July 1, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia, at the age of 70.

The family is planning a small private memorial at a future date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Born on June 30, 1955, in Owensboro, Ky, Sherry was as sweet a personality as one could hope to meet. Sherry was also an entrepreneur in many ways. Sherry was passionate about sewing and craft work, making quilts for family & friends which she made from love, expecting only the simple joy of giving them away. Sherry loved seeing the smiles and looks of admiration on the faces of those that received her gifts. Sherry was the sweetest, kindest, spicy, funny, and amazing lady who loved her family. Her quick, witty remarks will be missed. Sherry loved to engage in back-and-forth banter online with her husband, much to the delight of followers. Sherry was hard-working and dedicated to her family, always looking for ways to improve our lives. One day back in the early 80s, Sherry decided we should work as a team and not spend money on a helper. At that time and for 30 plus years, we were floor covering installers. Sherry was very much aware of how hard that work was, but her mind was set, she wanted to be part of it. And so, for the next couple of decades, we worked side by side.

When Sherry was diagnosed with COPD brought on by smoking combustible tobacco, she asked me to stop smoking so I would have the chance to not develop this terrible illness. While smoking 3 packs a day, I found it impossible to stop. Then a few years later, I was introduced by a friend to nicotine vapor. I stopped smoking 3 packs a day from the very first use of that vapor product. Sherry was so excited. She was proud of me and relieved that I was no longer smoking. We discussed ways to bring these products to others and after some research, she decided this was what she wanted to dedicate the remainder of our lives too. She wanted to help as many people as possible, to stop smoking. When I told her I was going to quit a career that had supported us for all our lives to open a Vape Shop, she put her hand on mine and said…DO IT. This decision evolved into what is now, our shop, Bucky’s Vape Shop.

She never hesitated to be a part of this risky endeavor. Sherry was a rock, dedicated to helping people stop smoking and worked right alongside me the whole way, even in the shop converting smokers until she could no longer, because of her illness. Sherry was a strong advocate for the rights of adults to have access to less harmful nicotine products. So much so that even though she was wheelchair bound and on oxygen, she would not miss any opportunity to go to Washington DC to speak to our representatives. She told them of all the successes we shared in stopping people from smoking combustible tobacco. She went to “We Vape We Vote” rally at the White House in very cold conditions and proudly held her sign toward the sky, along with thousands of other advocates when President Trump’s helicopter flew overhead. I asked her before the rally if she would rather stay at the room since it was so cold, she refused by telling me “Absolutely not. I have a voice, and I will be heard”. She also made the trip to Florida to sit on the side of the road and hold her sign for President Trump to see as his motorcade drove by. The vaping industry lost a strong, dedicated advocate with her passing.

If you did not know Sherry, you missed out on one of life’s most precious treasures. Sherry loved her granddaughter with all her heart and never missed an opportunity to get a photograph or school pictures that line the walls of her room.

Sherry leaves us all stronger for having had her in our lives. She leaves behind her husband of 52 years Keith Gossett, three sons Robert, Owen and Willie, a daughter-in-law Tammy and her precious granddaughter Rebecca. Sherry also leaves behind a sister Vickie Gaddis Boehmann, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
