Sonia Cruz-Vilches

Sonia Cruz-Vilches, 69, of Columbus, GA passed away June 23, 2025 at her residence.

Sonia was born August 12, 1955 in Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Jose Lino Cruz and Angelina Soto. Sonia enjoyed cooking and learning recipes from places she resided while traveling the world as a Military Spouse. She enjoyed nature, gardening, animals, and spending time with her family. She also took pride in her career with Tom's Bakery, where she worked for over twenty years. Sonia was very proud to be Puerto Rican, and would follow tradition wherever she went. Sonia was strong willed, and you never had to wonder how she felt on any given topic, she’d let you know. And even then, she might change her mind later. Her optimism, rice and beans, and sense of humor will be deeply missed. 

Survivors include her children, David Cruz (Tia) of Midland, GA, Barbara Costa (Richard) of Haddonfield, NJ, Jose Vilches of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Nathaniel Cruz of Midland, GA, Autumn Cruz (Alex Pipitone) of Bridgeton, NJ, Lexi Cruz-Adams (Cory) of Phenix City, AL, Jaden Vilches of Columbus, GA, Giovanna Vilches of Columbus, GA; great grandchildren, Cory Adams Jr of Phenix City, AL, Jade Cruz-Adams of Phenix City, AL; siblings, Jose Cruz, Raul Cruz, Carmen Falcon, Eva Cruz, Gloria Cruz, Nelida Cruz, Ilda Sorcorro, Bethzaida Cruz.
