Stephen Paul Benyo, 62, of Waverly Hall, GA died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his residence.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 AM Friday, November 18, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church 6700 GA-354 Pine Mountain, GA 31822 with Father John R. Madden officiating. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. A rosary will be said 6:00 PM Thursday, November 17, 2016 with visitation to follow at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Benyo was born June 18, 1954 in Ft. Benning, GA son of the late Francis P. and Effie L. Cofield Benyo. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church where he helped with their food drive and FOCUS. Stephen was an officer with Habitat for Humanity, volunteered with Goodwill, and did mission work for St. Mark. He loved to travel, enjoyed working in the yard, loved pets and enjoyed crafts.
Mr. Benyo never met a stranger. He was very outgoing and loved his family.
Survivors include his sisters, Angela Hightower (Roy) of Midland, GA and Marjorie Santoro (Joe) of Niceville, FL, nieces and nephews, Shane Hightower (Mindy), Jennifer Turner (Ted), Michael Santoro (Amanda), Nicholas Santoro, Roy Hightower, Jr. (Donna), and Angela H. Kent (John), and other extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Christ the King Catholic Church.
