Stephen Douglas Tucker, 75, of Columbus died Monday, September 7, 2026 at his home.

Stephen was born in Clarksville, TN to William Jefferson Tucker and Mary Catherine Crowley Tucker. Stephen worked for 45 years in retail management, most notably for Piggly Wiggly (JTM) in Phenix City, AL. He graduated from Hardaway High School c/o 1970.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Deborah E. Tucker of Columbus, GA, daughters: Traci J. Tucker of Hartselle, AL, Kimberly J. Chapman of Phenix City, AL, and Mary C. Rathert of Columbus, GA, his siblings: Carol Ann Guy and Linda Kay Tucker, his four grandchildren: Bobby Zamora, Jai-Lyn T. Chapman, Amaya J. Chapman, and Emersyn J. Harris, his two great-grandchildren: Minerva J. Zamora and Leilani B. Zamora, a host of nephews, his favorite niece, and many cousins, in-laws and friends whom he loved dearly!

He is preceded in death by his parents, his big brother, William “Bill” Tucker, and his brother-in-law, Charles Guy Sr.

The family would like to express their deepest and sincerest gratitudes to all that cared for Stephen during the final stages of his journey.

A Celebration of Life will be planned and details will be announced at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to your local no-kill animal shelter or Humane Society, in his honor.
