Thomas E. Gafford, Sr., 82, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, September 26, 2019 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Bryan Walker officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Gafford was born October 10, 1936 in Cusseta, GA son of the late George Durwood Gafford and Isabelle Clegg. He retired after 41 years with Sunshine Biscuit and Keebler (now, Kelloggs) as the Receiving Supervisor and also worked in Production Snack Line. Mr. Gafford was a devoted member of Benning Hills Baptist Church. He loved his late wife, Cleo, his children very much and also loved and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Cleo Ruth Pittman Gafford, brothers, George Durwood Gafford, II and William H. Gafford, Sr., and sister, June Gafford.
Survivors include his daughter, Dawn G. Walker (Bryan) of Ft. Worth, TX, son, Thomas Gafford, Jr. (Deanna) of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Jeremy Nathan Walker, Luke Andrew Walker (Bonnie), Joshua Thomas Gafford and Anna Elizabeth Gafford, and great-grandchild, Jedidiah Thomas Walker.
