Tommy was born January 4, 1946, in Calhoun GA to the late Harold H. Gammage, Sr. and Jessie Woodward Gammage. Tommy was a devoted family man and a stalwart Christian soldier. A lifelong Southern gentleman, he will be remembered by all who knew him for his unwavering optimism, kind heart, and steadfast faith. From an early age, Tommy was a living testament to courage—overcoming adversity with a joyful spirit and an abiding trust in God. He was a true disciple of the Lord, carrying his faith and belief in atonement in his heart and sharing it generously with everyone around him. Tommy was the ultimate family ambassador, always keeping in touch and ensuring the bonds of kinship remained strong. He made friends easily wherever he went and was always the first to lend a helping hand. A passionate fan of Braves baseball, Tommy also loved hot dogs, Elvis music, Ezell’s Catfish, the Waffle House community, and all the stray kitty cats that found their way to his door. A great admirer of boxing, he especially cherished stories of underdogs who overcame the odds, to become heroes. Tommy embodied the spirit of perseverance and joy, prevailing despite life’s challenges. His family will miss him. Tommy is survived by his sister: Jessica Powell (Everett) of Midland, GA, Brothers: Larry Gammage and Harold Gammage, Jr. (Cindy) both of Columbus, GA, nephews: Rett Powell (Leigh) and Jason Powell (Mary Rebecca) both of Columbus, GA, nieces: Clare Bowles (Don) of Columbus, GA, Mary Catherine Bales (Marc) of Signal Mountain, TN, Kelly Rothberger of Chattanooga, TN and, sister-in law: Alice Ruth Gammage also of Columbus, GA, several grand nieces and nephews.
