Battalion Chief Ret. Thomas Eugene "Gene" Hagler 81, of Columbus died Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, June 4, 2018 at Britt David Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Interment with Fireman's Honors will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be firefighters from the Columbus Fire and EMS Department. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA.
Mr. Hagler was born October 02, 1936 in Barbour County, Al. son of the late Thomas Ranson and Lelia Grace Hartzog Hagler. He retired as a Battalion Chief after 29 years with the Columbus Fire and EMS Department. He also worked for over 30 years with Raymond Rowe Furniture Company.
Mr. Hagler was a member and Deacon of Britt David Baptist Church. He drove the church bus for many years supporting the senior adult and youth programs.
Other than his parents, Mr. Hagler was preceded in death by his wife Sara N. Hagler and sister, Ruby Neal Blaine.
Survivors include two sons, Tony Hagler and Tyron Hagler both of Columbus, Ga., brother, James Hagler of Louisville, AL and several nieces and nephews.
