Timothy (Scooter) Lance Barton, 59, of Fortson, GA passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Brookside Glen in Columbus, GA.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church 6304 Lynridge Ave. Columbus, GA with Rev. Vernon Prather officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Tim was born on August 4, 1956 in Columbus, GA to the late James M. Barton and Lucille Cook Land. He was a wonderful husband and daddy.
He was a retired meat market manager for 38 years with Winn Dixie in Columbus, GA. His hobbies were fishing, fishing and more fishing. Tim made the GA State Team twice and the Nationals once in Bass fishing.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Moneta (Mandy) Barton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Vanessa Barton of Fortson, GA, daughter, Kimberly Folds Feringer (Brad) of Cataula, GA, granddaughter, Olivia Owens, brothers, DuWayne Barton (Cheryl) and Rickey Barton (Catherine) of Cataula, GA, sister, Jeannie Hughes of Ellerslie, GA, several nieces and nephews, and many friends, including his fishing buddy, the Rev. Vernon Prather.
