Tom W. Smith, 94, of Columbus, GA died Monday, May 19, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 22, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Larry Rollins officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith was born March 16, 1920 in Columbus, GA son of the late James Smith and Dovie Cooper Smith. He was a member of St. Peter United Methodist Church and was a member of the Rosehill Masonic Lodge for 50 years. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II and retired as an electrician for the civil service.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Elmore Smith and daughter, Joyce Smith Myers, and his brother, James Smith.
Survivors include his grandson, Joseph Bryan Milner of Columbus, GA and his partner Ivan Zamora, both of whom cared for Mr. Smith during the last years of his life; sister, Katherine Gunn of Columbus, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
