Virginia G. Arnold, 91, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.
A visitation and reception will be held at 12:00 P.M. EST, Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in the Magnolia Room at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. Burial will be in Dothan City Cemetery, 901 Columbia Hwy, Dothan, AL 36301 at 12:00 P.M. EST, Wednesday, June 3, 2015.
Mrs. Arnold was born January 19, 1924 in Huntsville, Al, daughter to the late Chester Earl Garrison and Victoria Hill Garrison. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her two siblings Marie and Earl. Her beloved husband Henry William Arnold died last year. They were in many ways the perfect couple of their generation. After Henry served during World Two in the U.S. Navy, they married as he finished his pharmacy degree at Auburn University.
They then moved to Columbus, GA and had two children who survive them, Dr. William Stanley (Charlotte) Arnold of Atlanta, GA, and Gina (Andrew) Campbell of Louisville, KY. Also surviving are grandchildren Grant Arnold, Jon Arnold, Becky Arnold, Alex Campbell, Michael Davis, Laura Sokoloskis, and Chris Davis. Her niece, Virginia Jane Page, was a friend and care-giver to Virginia her last few years.
Virginia never worked for pay, but enjoyed working all her life creating beauty with crafts and artistry. Although unable to finish her college degree, she enjoyed reading and studying many of the conundrums of her time.
