Wallis Jeanne Phillips, 72, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Midtown Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Hank Reeves officiating. Interment will be held at Geneva Cemetery in Geneva, GA. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Phillips was born April 9, 1944 in Sharon, PA daughter of the late Wallace Walter Yates and Frances Thomas Hobbs. She worked as a Clerk in the Incentives Department at AFLAC. She was married for 56 years to Buddy Phillips and was a devoted wife, and loving mother and grandmother.
She loved bible studies, NASCAR, birdwatching, camping and fishing, her "punkins" (her grandchildren) and her animals. Mrs. Phillips never met a stranger and always had kind words for everyone. She was also a distant relative of Davey Crockett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances E. Hobbs and Walter C. Hobbs and grandson, Austin Phillips.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Buddy Phillips of Columbus, GA, children, Charles W. Phillips (Sandra) of Fayetteville, GA and Lisa Phillips of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Kyle Phillips of Atlanta, GA, Gracie Phillips of Fayetteville, GA, Michaela Phillips of Newnan, GA, Scottie Sierra (Samantha) and Tracy Sierra all of Fayetteville, GA, siblings, Walter James Yates of Atlanta, GA and Kathy Senn (Gene) of Salem, AL, great grandson, Nathan Sierra of Fayetteville, GA, numerous nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association 5156 River Rd. Suite M Columbus, GA 31904.
