Waltraud Kohl Johnson, 91, of Columbus, GA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at The Haven at Columbus.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Chaplain Vincent Bell officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.

Waltraud was born on May 5, 1935, in Landstuhl, Germany, to the late Franz Heinrich Kohl and Katharina Bonnert Kohl. She found great joy in working in her yard and tending to her flower gardens. She also loved dancing, cooking, and listening to music. Waltraud especially enjoyed being surrounded by her beloved animals, but above all, she cherished the time she spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Gilbert Johnson, and her son, Heinz Johnson.

Waltraud leaves behind her loving children, Doris Johnson (Bill), Ingrid Murray (Tim), Connie Garland, Sonja Jones, and Debra Bowles, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her love and memories will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at The Haven at Columbus and Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided to Waltraud and her family.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
