William Todd Allen, 55, of Talbotton, GA. passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Todd was born October 14, 1963 in Hamilton, Ohio, into the loving arms of his mother, Sandra Allen of Hamilton, Ohio and the late Maynard Duane Allen. He was brother to Tammy and Timothy Allen. In 1988, he married the love of his life, Laurie Allen, and became a father to Michael Adam Richardson and Ashley Parmer. In 1992, he celebrated the birth of his beloved daughter, Amanda Allen. He was an intensely devoted family man - son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
Todd developed an intense work ethic early in life, helping on his aunt and uncles' farm. He was a 1982 graduate of Edgewood High School in Trenton, Ohio, where he was a member of the varsity football and wrestling teams. He played hard and worked even harder. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army as a crew chief on UH-60 Black Hawks in the 498th medical company in Ft. Benning, GA. from September 1982 until April of 1989. He enjoyed his time in the service and excelled in rotary winged airframe diagnostics and repair. He exited his military career due to an injury sustained during his service. After his service in the military, he continued his career as a diesel mechanic and worked at Columbus Truck Sales, Hardee Trucking Company, and Diversified of Opelika, AL. He began his career at Mead Coated Board (now WestRock) Mahrt Paper Mill in 1992. He worked hard, honing his skills as a maintenance mechanic during 25 years of service through blood, sweat, and true grit sacrificing a tremendous amount of time away from his family to his job. He maintained close relationships with people he worked closely with and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Everyone that knew him, knew they could count on him and knew where they stood with him.
Todd enjoyed outdoor activities, especially fishing and hunting, which were special times shared with his family and especially his son Adam. He could build or fix anything with wheels and an engine and loved playing on high horsepower toys. In his later years, he enjoyed projects around the house and keeping with a well-manicured property. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, spoiling them, and giving them rides on his tractors and equipment. He and his family loved, laughed, played, and worked together. He was hard working and loyal to his family, country, work, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Maynard D. Allen and brother, Timothy Allen. Todd is survived by his mother Sandra Allen; his wife Laurie Allen of Talbotton, GA, daughter Amanda Allen of Talbotton, GA, son Adam Richardson and his wife Lacey, grandchildren Carly, Logan, and Morgan of Salem, AL.; sister Tammy Allen and wife Beth Dietz of Monroe, OH.; nephews Matthew Allen, Andrew Allen and wife Kayla and their son Griffin and Cody Allen, all of Versailles, KY.; Uncle Harold and Aunt Darlene Black. The family will have a private service at at later date. In lieu of flower or donations, Todd would have wanted you to take your families to dinner and enjoy them in his memory.
