William Raymond “Billy” Langley, 86, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 29, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of those who meant so much to him.

Billy was born on June 26, 1940, in Columbus, Georgia, to Mary Frances and James Langley. A lifelong Columbus resident, Billy went to Jordan High School and later graduated from Columbus State University, where he earned a degree in Bachelor of Arts. He was a veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

Billy had a gift for making people feel welcome. His outgoing personality, quick smile, and genuine love for others made him a friend to so many. He truly never met a stranger, and wherever Billy went, he had a way of leaving behind a little more laughter, a good story, and a lasting impression. His warm heart and generous spirit will be remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Billy built a successful career in the sales of building supplies and was a partner with Interstate Lighting. He took great pride in his work, but it was the relationships he formed along the way that meant the most to him.

Outside of work, Billy loved the things that brought him joy and gave him memories to treasure. He especially loved Georgia football, dancing, and golf. He and his beloved wife, Sally, were members of several regional dance clubs, where they shared many wonderful memories. Their love of dancing was just one of the many things that reflected Billy’s joyful spirit and love of life.

Most of all, Billy treasured his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Sally Edwards Langley; his children, Kristi Watkins and her husband, Cham Watkins, and Tommy Langley and his wife, Misty Langley; and his stepdaughter, Marcee Riley and her husband, Chris Riley. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who will carry his love and memories with them for generations to come.

Billy’s greatest legacy will not be found in the things he accomplished, but in the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely. He was a husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to many. His laughter, stories, kindness, and unmistakable personality will be deeply missed.

Though his chair may now be empty and his dancing shoes still, the memories Billy created will continue to bring smiles, laughter, and comfort to those who loved him. His life was a gift, his memory a treasure, and his love will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

The family will receive friends at 3:00 P.M. Friday, September 11, 2026, at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, Georgia, with funeral services immediately following at 4:00 P.M., with Rev. Dr. Buddy Cooper officiating.
