William Lawrence Duffie, a beloved figure in his community and cherished family man, passed away peacefully at home on May 7, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on October 27, 1937, in Randolph County, Alabama, Lawrence grew to embody the spirit of dedication and commitment, both in his career and to his family.

A visitation will be held in his honor on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. The Celebration of Life will follow from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Chip Grantham officiating. A private inurnment will be held at Hillcrest Garden in Lanett, GA.

A graduate of Jacksonville State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics, Lawrence devoted his entire professional life to the field of accounting. He played an instrumental role in guiding various companies through the transformative era of the computer age, making significant contributions that would leave a lasting impact.

In addition to his professional achievements, Lawrence served his country proudly in the United States Army, fulfilling his duties at Arlington Hall - HQ Company USAG. He was honorably discharged upon completion of his service, reflecting his commitment to his nation and community.

Despite his professional accomplishments, Lawrence's greatest pride was found within his family. He is survived by his three sons, Larry (Christine), Mike (Laura), and Tim, who carry forward his legacy of love and dedication. He was a devoted grandfather to Brooke Dehart (Garrett), Colin Duffie, Hannah Garrison (Ben), and William Duffie, and a proud great-grandfather to Adley Dehart, Sailor Dehart, Calvert Duffie, Kendall Duffie, and Sawyer Garrison. Lawrence took immense joy in the sporting activities of his children and grandchildren, often cheering them on with a fatherly pride that lit up his eyes.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly Newberry Duffie, as well as his parents, Clarance Duffie and Jepsie Duffie. Their memories will forever be intertwined with Lawrence's, as he carried them in his heart throughout his life.

Lawrence will be remembered as a man who cherished family above all, a loving father, and a proud grandfather whose impact on the lives of those around him will be felt for generations to come. His warm spirit and unwavering support will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
