William L.
Hix
Jun 30, 1942 — Aug 27, 2026
William Loyd Hix, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, at the age of 84.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 02, 2026 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held following the service at Parkhill Cemetery.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie Hix; his daughter, Paige (Kris) DeWitt; and his son’s widow, Misty Galloway. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Avery, Alex, Cassidy, Kristian, Carter, Alayna, Ava, Jackson, Chet, Mia, Landon, Devin, Nick, and Owen. His children and grandchildren were among his greatest blessings, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Hix; mother, Maggie Irma Hix Quarles; sister, Thelma Joy Antley; and son, Keith Alan Hix.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee and spent many years of dedicated service as Safety and Health Advisor with Georgia Power. After retirement, William settled at the lake with the love of his life, Jackie. There, he found the kind of peace and happiness that came from appreciating the beauty around him, sharing laughter, and creating memories with family and friends.
William loved deeply and gave generously. He was the kind of man who hung swing sets for his grandchildren and hung the moon for his wife. A gentle warrior with a quiet strength, William found value in hard work, loyalty, dependability, and friendship. His humble resilience knew no bounds, and his work ethic was unmatched.
William's legacy will not be measured in his many possessions or accomplishments, but in all the lives he touched and the great love story he shared with his wife.
