William J. Murphy, 83, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017.
Mr. Murphy was born July 1, 1933 in Akron, Ohio to the late Joseph and Opal Murphy. He graduated from Carlisle (OH) High School and received his Bachelor's of Industrial Engineering from the University of Dayton in 1961. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and worked at Mound Laboratories in Miamisburg, Ohio for 34 years. He loved his Ohio State Buckeyes, UD Flyers, and Cincinnati Reds. He and his wife travel extensively but most of all he loved spending time at home with family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Peggy. Additional survivors are his sister, Patsy Blount of Gainesville, FL; daughters, Joy Ney (Rick) of Germantown, OH and Kathleen Murphy of Centerville, OH; sons William P. Murphy (Todd Holland) of Columbus, GA and J. Daniel Murphy (Colleen) of Claremont, CA; five granddaughters; and, four great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held Sunday, June 11th at 2PM at his home in Columbus.
