William Theodore Lewis 84, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 6, 1942, he lived a life defined by service, hard work, and a steadfast commitment to helping others.
Funeral services will be held 5:00PM, Saturday, May 2026 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus GA, 31907. The family will receive friends for a public visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park.
WT served as a member of the National Guard, he served his country with honor and humility. His sense of duty extended far beyond his military years, shaping the way he approached every part of his life.
He built a long and respected career as a master electrician, a trade he not only mastered but used generously for the benefit of others. Whether wiring a home, fixing a neighbor’s outage, or volunteering his time to ensure a church, school, or community space was safe and bright, he believed his skills were meant to serve. His hands were steady, his work was meticulous, and his heart was always open to anyone who needed help.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his unwavering reliability, and the countless ways he used his talents to lift up the people around him. His legacy lives on in the homes he repaired, the lives he touched, and the family who loved him deeply.
He is preceded in death by Wife of 63 Years, Marilyn Lewis, Mother Mary Mezokowski, Father Dorman Lewis, and Brother Larry Lewis.
He is survived by his two sisters, Mary Carr and Ruth Boyette (Bill). He was the Father to Randy (Terrie) Lewis of Montezuma, Georgia, Rhonda (Jon) Barnett of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Mark (Cathy) Lewis of Rock Hill, South Carolina. W.T. was a proud gran gran to Kimberly Barnett, Kevin Barnett (Kadee Lund), Erik Lewis, and Desmond Lewis, and a great-grandfather to Andee Barnett, Marley Lewis, Delilah Lewis, Athena Lewis, and Ruby Capes
A life of service, craftsmanship, and kindness—he will be missed but never forgotten.
