Willie J. Walker, 64, of Columbus, GA died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, April 6, 2017 in Gentiva Hospice Care.
A memorial service will be held 12:00 PM Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Willie Walker was born September 10, 1952 in Buena Vista, GA son of the late Cleveland Hall and Mary Walker Hall. Willie Walker served 12 years as a mechanic in the United States Army to include a tour in Vietnam. After his Army career, Willie was employed by the Muscogee County School District where he worked for 30 years until his retirement in 2008.
Willie leaves behind his wife, the former Maggie Williams of Columbus, Ga. Two children Jerel Walker (Renee) of Glen Allen, Va and Chondra Jones (Anthony) of Moline, Il. Three sisters, Clevonia Walker, Cleida Mennefield and Evelyn Burks all of Columbus, Ga. Four brothers, Christopher Hall of Columbus, Ga, Felton Hall (Gaynelle) of Fairburn, Ga, Terry Armstrong (Grace) and Benny Armstrong (Cynthia) both of New Orleans, La. One sister-in-law, Alma Bennett of Augusta, Ga and one brother in-law Samuel Williams (Dorothy) of Columbus, Ga. He also leaves six grandchildren, Xavier Walker of Glen Allen, Va, Jacobi Robinson of Columbus, Ga, Khouri Thomas of Lakenheath AFB, United Kingdom, Christian Jones of Moline, Il, Keyanna Walker of Glen Allen, Va, and Gitanna Adams of Columbus as well as six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
