IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Winonah
Rhodes
December 23, 1941 – February 28, 2026
Winonah Carolyn Williams was born on December 23, 1941 in Porterville, California to Harley Williams and Erma (Sparks) Williams. Carolyn lived there until the age of twelve when the family moved to Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Carolyn was the eldest of three siblings, Robert (Bob) and Lyndia, both of whom have preceded Carolyn in death. In 1962 at Fort Smith, Arkansas, Carolyn met Carey Rhodes, the man who was soon to become her husband and would remain her lifelong love. Carey was serving in the Army at nearby Fort Chaffee, Arkansas as he completed his military Basic Training and Advanced Infantry Training there. At a young age, Carolyn placed all of her trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, and remained a faithful believer in and follower of her Saviour for the rest of her life. Carolyn breathed her final breath of earth’s air on February 28, 2026 at approximately 8:00 PM, as she “…passed from death to life.” (John 5:24, 1 John 3:14) and was received into her eternal home in Heaven.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Carey and their two children, Angela Snow and Chris Rhodes, all of whom reside in Fortson, Georgia. Also surviving Carolyn are her and Carey’s four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Carolyn’s Memorial-of-Life service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. at Maranatha Baptist Church, 303 Double Churches Road, Columbus, Georgia, followed by a private burial ceremony.
Carolyn’s family is grateful to you for joining us as we seek to honor and celebrate the well-lived life of this wonderful woman of faith, hope and charity. Carolyn exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman better than anyone whom we, her family, have ever known. The lofty words of Proverbs 31 can truthfully be said of Carolyn. We never knew anyone who better exemplified the words “…in her tongue is the law of kindness.” Carolyn lived quietly, spoke softly, labored tirelessly and loved faithfully. May God enable us to endlessly emulate her example.
