Wren Watson Gilliam,73, of Columbus, GA passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Columbus Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, August 14, 2026 at St Luke Church with Rev. Thad Haygood officiating.

Wren was born March 19, 1953 in Columbus, Georgia daughter of the late James Edward Watson and DeAun Rieman Watson. She was raised in Columbus, with her two sisters, attended Edgewood School, Richards Jr High School, and graduated from Columbus High School ‘71 where she was a cheerleader and class superlative. She attended Columbus College and majored in Art.

She used her love for art and talent of creating while working as an event coordinator for The American Cancer Society and The Columbus Museum. While raising her two children, Wren gave of her time volunteering for various causes such as Steeplechase at Callaway Gardens, The Columbus Museum, St Francis Auxiliary, and the National Infantry Museum, and the Junior League of Columbus. She was a member of St. Luke Church, attended the Now Sunday School Class, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and shared her talents while serving on the Altar Guild.

Wren was a true and faithful friend and confidant to many. She enjoyed spending time with friends through the Sprig & Dig Garden Club, her Bridge Group, and many tennis teams through the years.

Survivors include her children, Kathleen Gallops (Jeremy), Otie Gilliam IV; grandson, Watson Gallops; Sisters Pam Thayer (John), Dede Upchurch; her nieces and nephews loved “Aunt Birdie” Lange Taylor(Jared), Jodi Hansell(Paul), DeAun Kirven(Phillip), Tripp Upchurch(Ginny).
