Allen "Ted" Wright

Allen “Ted” Wright, 84, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Piedmont Northside Hospital.

A celebration of life will held 4:00 PM Monday, May 16, 2022 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Don Abrams officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Ted was born Oct 25, 1937 in Columbus, GA, to the late A.C. Wright and Effie Wright. Ted Graduated from Jordan Vocational Tech School in 1957 and worked as a fireman for the Columbus Fire Department from 1958-1963.He founded Ted Wright Construction and ATW, Inc. in 1963 and worked until his retirement in 1996.Ted worked as a general contractor/homebuilder in Columbus, GA and retired in 1996.

Ted was an avid golfer (he had 4 hole-in ones), he loved traveling (visited all the states), loved riding motorcycles, loved animals, his favorite book is the Bible and read it daily. Ted was a Member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Phenix City, Alabama. He loved being outdoors, loved bird watching, loved walking his dog Ally in Maple Ridge and visiting with his neighbors and loved spending time with his family and pets. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Cecil, Clyde, Donnie, Larry, Gene, Ellis, sisters, Florence, Mildred, Dorothy, Laura and Shirley.

Ted is survived by his wife Rebecca Porter Wright, of Columbus GA, son, Allen Ted Wright Jr. (Melissa) of Columbus GA, daughter, Kellie Leigh Wright of Columbus, GA, stepdaughters, Jenny Fritz (Mark) of Newnan, GA, Keni Bush (Mark) of Phenix City, AL, grandchildren, Kasie Edmunds of Columbus, GA, Darrel Tharpe of Columbus, GA, Taylor Elizabeth Wright of Columbus, GA, John Robert Ingenito of Columbus, GA, step-grandchildren, Holley Spikes of  Columbus, GA, Lane Bush (Morgan) of Birmingham, AL, Lauren Bush of Phenix City, AL, brother, William Erskin Wright of Columbus, GA.
