Austin Searcy Zacharias

Austin Searcy Zacharias, 24, of Columbus, GA passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at his residence. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 29, 2022 at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1104 2nd Ave, Columbus, GA 31901.

Austin was born September 03, 1997 in Lawrenceville, GA, son of Jim and Darla Zacharias. He lived with his family in Lawrenceville, GA until he was 11 years old, where he was very involved with his friends, started Little League Baseball, and played for a travel ball team. Austin moved with his family to Columbus, GA in 2009 and attended St. Luke Middle School and began playing baseball at Peach Little League. After only playing one year at Peach, Austin was honored by being awarded the 2010 Mize Award, awarded to a player who showed great sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the season. Austin attended Columbus High School from 2011 to 2015, where he continued to play baseball. After graduating high school, Austin attended Columbus State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in 2021 and was set to start his career in January 2022 at Amazon’s Union City, GA fulfillment center as an Area Manager. Austin’s kind heart and high spirited personality was bigger than life, his passion was meeting new people everywhere he went and making lasting friends on the way. Austin’s passion was music most importantly Widespread Panic where he was a regular attendee making lifelong friends with other WSP fans and meeting them at concerts all over the United States and he was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. Austin will truly be missed by many who loved his kind heart and loving soul.

Survivor include his parents, Jim and Darla Zacharias of Columbus, GA; sister, Jordan Zacharias of Austin, TX; brother, Stephen Zacharias (Kayla) of Smyrna, GA; aunts, Carla (Mitch) Norville of Greenville, SC, Diana (Van) VanBenschoten of Charleston, SC, Johnel (Jeff) Searcy of Anderson, SC, Kathy (Cliff) Runge of Aspen, CO; uncle, Jay Zacharias (Rachel Murray) of San Diega, CA; aunt, Kim Zacharias of Grand Junction, CO; cousins, Griffith (Liz) of Philadelphia, PA, Hunter Norville of Chicago, IL, Taylor (Ellen) Norville of Greenville, SC, Megan VanBenschoten  of Washington, DC, Gerritt VanBenschoten of Charleston, SC, Ashleigh (Tim) Day of Anderson, SC, Parker Searcy of Anderson, SC, and Sam Zacharias of Washington, DC.
