Barbara Ann Byrd Stubbs

Barbara Ann Byrd Stubbs, 79, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, June 12, 2022 at her residence.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Earnestine Campbell officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Barbara was born December 21, 1942 in Lumpkin, GA to the late Justin Baldwin Byrd and Mamie Watkins Byrd. Mrs. Stubbs retired as a supervisor from the Georgia Department of Revenue. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, where she served on many committees, was a Sunday school teacher and a member of The Questors Sunday School Class. She served as the President of the “Hands in service” UMW group for several years. Barbara loved to volunteer her time to help those in need, with the feeding Ministry at Rosehill United Methodist Church and the Wynton Neighborhood Network. She was active in the Windsor Park Garden Club and the Thursday Morning Bible Study Group. She enjoyed playing canasta, swimming, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jean Byrd Bruno (Richard)

Survivors include her husband, Billy A. Stubbs; stepson, Kenneth Alan Stubbs (Gail), Sr.; grandson, Kenneth Alan Stubbs, Jr.; sisters, Brenda Joyce Byrd Hanner (Cecil), Beverly Grace Byrd Parker (Wayne); nieces, Donna Galindo (Guillermo), Christie Parker, Wanda Chappell (Terry); nephews, Richard Bruno, Jr (Julie), Mark Hanner (Misty), and Chip Parker and several great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Columbus Hospice House for their loving care and support during Barbara's battle with cancer.
