Billy Ray Jones 82, of Columbus, Georgia died Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Garden's of Calvary.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 4, 2019 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Billy Duncan officiating. Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Jones was born January 6, 1937 in Graceville, Florida son of the late Chester Jones and Lounette Spivey Harvard. Mr. Jones retired after 28 years with the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office. After retirement, Mr. Jones served as a Bailiff and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, former member of Oates Ave. Baptist Church and current member of Beallwood Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his first wife, Doretha Dorman Jones and his second wife, Ann Stuart Jones, and sister, Grace Flowers.
Survivors include his daughters, Wendy Werner (Mark) and Tracy Platus (Joey) both of Columbus, GA, sons, J.R. Jones (Nancy) of New Durham, New Hampshire and Franklin Jones (Becky Lynn Jones, deceased) of Phenix City, Alabama, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
