Celia Lee "Celie" Angel Helman Obituary

Celia Lee "Celie" Angel Helman, 88, of Columbus, GA died peacefully and surrounded by love at home on Saturday, May 14, 2022.
Celie was born July 15, 1933 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the daughter of Phil Isaac Angel and Sadye Rosenblum Angel. She attended Chattanooga Public Schools and the University of Georgia. She married David J. Helman on January 3, 1952, and together they had two daughters, Elinor Angel "Ellie" and Phyllis Betsy "Betsy".
Celie was a former board member of The Harmony Club of Columbus, a creative writer for The Lawyers Club, Springer Theatre, Temple Israel, Wynnton Neighborhood Network as well as for various businesses and private individuals. She was a former television producer and writer of many local TV and radio commercials and advertising campaigns. She was also one of the former owners of That Place, an art gallery, as well as an agent representing many local-area artists.  She was most recently the owner of Celie's Pretty Things Estate Jewelry and Antique Collectables.
She had a passion for Antiques, Art and Vintage Jewelry  and had a knack for finding the most beautiful pieces. She was "forever young"…always curious and interested. She was strong, bold, fun and beautiful.  She loved nighttime rides in her convertible and enjoyed spending time in her comfortable home and backyard.  Celie always followed a natural path and was interested in learning more about the big questions of life. She was the most special grandmother to Olivia, Sarah and Sky sharing her creativity, her quick wit and her cool and funky style always. She cared deeply for people and was a friend to all.
She is survived by Ellie Dylan, Betsy Helman Oney (Aaron), grandchildren Sky Dylan-Robbins, Olivia Angel Oney and Sarah Elizabeth Oney, nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces, Mr. Crackers, the backyard squirrel and many friends who filled her life with love, caring and kindness.
A Celebration of Celie’s Life will be announced and held on a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Donations may be made in Celie’s name to PAWS, Animal Ark Rescue or a charity of your choice.
