Charlene Connie Schaar

Charlene Connie Schaar, 66, of Columbus, GA, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, after a sudden illness.

A memorial service will be held near the Columbus Riverwalk at a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Charlene was born September 11, 1956 in El Paso, Texas, the daughter of the late Clinton S. Scharr and Gudrun Ida Schaar. She was an Army "brat," living in multiple cities across the United States before returning to El Paso in young adulthood. Charlene served a short time in the military and obtained a computer science degree. In 2000, Charlene moved to Columbus, Georgia, and began her 21-year career with New Horizons Community Service Board, eventually obtaining certification as a registered pharmacy technician.

Charlene enjoyed German food, dark chocolate, computer gaming, reading, animals, irreverent tee shirts, and the general pleasures of solitude. She joked that her 'Patronus was a sloth," but in reality, she was a resourceful, dedicated hard worker and loyal, generous person and friend.

Survivors include her brother, Clinton Schaar (Nancy) of El Paso, Texas, and their children, Clinton, Chad and Megan Schaar. Anyone desiring to make a contribution should do so to PAWS Humane or the charity of their choice.
