Donald Maxwell Goodroe

Donald Maxwell Goodroe, 83, of Columbus, GA died Friday, November 13, 2020 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 17, 2020 with Rev. Scott Rhodes officiating in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory,3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 face coverings and social distancing will be required during the funeral service and the visitation.

Donald was born June 22, 1937 in Albany, GA to the late Elbert Maxwell and Martha Elise Gullatt Goodroe. Donald was a jokester, loved to talk and attended Ladonia Baptist Church. He was in the Albany Sports Hall of Fame for basketball, ran track at South Carolina and was the ACC champion in track. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Goodroe and brother, Daniel Goodroe.

He is survived by his children, Donald “Donnie” F. Goodroe of Dahlonega, GA, Jeffery Goodroe of Columbus, GA, Gregory S. Goodroe (Sonya) of Talbotton, GA, siblings, Jean Spurgeon (Patrick) of Union Bridge, MD, June Goodroe of Union Bridge, MD, grandchildren, Ashley Winstead (John), Clayton Goodroe (Courtney), Gregory Goodroe II (Summer), Jessica Moody (Ben), Katelyn Goodroe, great-grandchildren, Waverly Winstead, Brooks Winstead, Sutton Goodroe, Palmer Goodroe, Oakley Goodroe, James Goodroe, Kayla Moody and his first wife, Patricia “Pat” Bowman.
