Edward Daniel Griffin, Jr, 59, of Columbus, GA passed away on April 3, 2022.

Ed was born on January 7, 1963, to Shirley and Edward Griffin Sr. After graduating from Columbus High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Lisa Wilbanks Griffin, he attended Auburn University. He and Lisa married in 1987, going on to have two daughters, Garrett Griffin Bonham (32) and Averett Griffin (27).

Ed was a family man. He was a proud dad to his daughters and granddaughters, Elizabeth (5) and Mary Shepard Bonham (2). Everyone that knew Ed knew his playfulness and mischievous humor. He loved to make people laugh, it was how he made sure that people knew he loved them. He had a gigantic heart, and never let his family doubt that they were loved by him.

In his early years, he spent time at the family cabin on Lake Harding. He loved to hunt with family members and his beloved dog, Ike. He also made many fond memories along the Florida Panhandle, where he loved to take his family for vacation and to go deep-sea fishing. Ed embraced being a girl dad. He earned the name “Mr. Mom” by traveling with his daughters to cheerleading competitions, supporting them and their friends, and even styling their hair.

In his recent years, Ed worked for Tri-State Transit Motor Company, where he was able to enjoy traveling across the country and visiting 48 states. His favorite way to spend time off from work was to gather with his family and visit his grandchildren in Panama City.

Ed was preceded in death by his father Edward Daniel Griffin Sr. and his true love, Lisa Wilbanks Griffin. He is survived by his mother Shirley Griffin, his sister Cindy Haynes (Keith), his brother Jon Griffin (Shannon), many nieces and nephews, and his beloved daughters, Averett Griffin and Garrett Griffin Bonham, son in law, Mac Bonham and his two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Mary Shepard Bonham.

In lieu of a funeral service, his family will gather privately to celebrate Ed’s life. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Columbus Botanical Garden, 3603 Weems Road, Columbus, GA 31909, in memory of Edward Griffin, Jr.
