Felton "Buddy" M. Moore Jr.
October 14, 1935 - January 2, 2020
Felton "Buddy" M. Moore Jr. 84, (Known as "Buddy" to many, and as "Pops" to Family & Close Friends) of Columbus, GA., passed away peacefully January 2nd, 2020. Mr. Moore was the son of the late Felton M. Moore Sr. & Nelle B. Moore, also of Columbus, GA.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Thomas ("JT") Moore, his first born son, Gregory "Greg" Alan Moore Sr., Son-in-Law, Frank "Brad" B. Bradley III, Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law, Billy & Betty Morris and Life-long Friend, Jimmy Smith.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jane Morris Moore, (daughter of the late Ace & Evelyn Morris)
He is also survived by his daughter, Tammy Moore Bradley, his son and Daughter-in-Law, Rusty & Regina Moore, Grandchildren Stella Moore, Alan Moore, James "Bubba" Moore, Tasha Free and Jerry Free, Brother-in-Law & Sister-in-Law, Gary and Stacey Morris, Sister-in-Law, Jerri Moore, eight Great-grandchildren, numerous Nieces & Nephews and Special Friends, Eloise Hersh, Betty Perry, Larry Baker, Ricky Patterson and Rhonda Gilley, who always went above and beyond the meaning of Friendship.
Mr. Moore attended Columbus High School, and also attended Auburn University at the age of 15. Upon graduating CHS in 1953, he continued his education at Georgia Southwestern. From there, he went to Mercer University where he earned his Master's Degree.
While attending college, he met the love of his life on March 11th, 1954. Upon meeting her that first day, he told her, "I'm going to marry you one day" and he held true to his word and married Jane on March 15th, 1958. A short while after marrying, he joined The Air Force Reserve. After graduating college, he continued in the Reserves while teaching several classes at Benning Hills Elem. 8th Grade, and starting his family in 1961 when his first Son was born. Two years later, in 1963, his Daughter was born. Six weeks after her birth, he was offered a job overseas as Chief Accountant for Oman, Farnsworth & Wright Contractors. The company was hired for the completion of the Pan-American Highway in Panama. His wife and 2 small children flew to Panama a short time after to join him. They were only there for a few months, when he was forced to have them flown back to the States after the shooting of President Kennedy in November of 1963, and the danger of the riots breaking out. After the completion of his work in Panama, he returned to his family in the States, and joined Richard Mullins as his accountant for Insulation Corporation of America for many years. In 1971, he was blessed with a Son, his third child. That same year, he was offered an accounting job with the W.C. Bradley Company. In 1987 he was named "Boss of the Year". After several promotions, he was promoted to Vice President & Head Comptroller of the Bradley Company, Char-Broil Division. He remained at the Bradley Co. for 23 years until his retirement. During his years with the Bradley Co., being the avid golfer he was, he played in many of their golf tournaments. One tournament, in particular, he made a "Hole in One" for which he received a Gold Putter. After retiring from the Bradley Co., he was able to pursue his love for golf, playing and walking the courses nearly every weekend. He was a member of Four Lakes Golf Course and he also played at Bull Creek Golf Course after the closing of Four Lakes.
Not wanting to be fully retired, he continued his love for accounting and went to work for United Oil Co. for several years, then Tire King. He also loved hunting, fishing, reading and watching sports. He was a man of many words and loved holding conversations with everyone he encountered. He shared many great stories with everyone. He could converse with anyone on any level, and was a walking book of knowledge. If anybody needed an answer to any question, everyone would say, "Ask Pops". He was certainly a great man and an exceptional husband and father. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
