Harriet "Sue" Donaldson Obituary

Harriet “Sue” Donaldson, 83, a loving mother and grandmother, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2022 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Chaplain Allison Owen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A private interment will be held at Riverdale Cemetery.

Sue was born February 21, 1939 in Columbus, GA to the late Harry Anglin and Martha Alford Spivey. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Donaldson, son, Billy Catrett, whom she deeply missed, brother, Philip Hodges and step-father, Albert Spivey.

She worked as a homemaker for many years, and then pursued a degree in Criminal Justice which took her to work for the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office. She was also employed by the Helen Police Department and a private probation company during the years.

Sue enjoyed spending time with her husband traveling.  Her favorite trips were down the eastern coast and a trip to Montana and the Grand Canyon. She and Ken spent many wonderful days at their cabin in Young Harris, Georgia, a place of adventure for them.

 She loved her family and her family loved her. Sue always brought the festive side of any occasion to life when the family gathered. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, planning tea parties, game days, Christmas parties and parties strictly geared for them. She was affectionately known as “Grandmother Susie Q”. She will be forever missed by her children and grandchildren. She was a Baptist by faith was a member of Mauk Baptist Church and raised her family with a strong Christian background.

She is survived by her son, Ricky Catrett, Columbus, GA, daughters, Lynn Davis (Spence) of Fortson, GA, Sandra Catrett of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Tonya Bowie (Canyon), Rich Catrett, Gene Davis (Shelby),  brother, Ronald Hodges (Jan) of Little Rock, AR, great-grandchildren, Caiden Bowie, Madelyn Bowie, Melissa Davis, Sarah Catrett, Mallory Hayes and Madison Hayes.
