Hugo was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 45 years. Prior to his illness, he served as an ordained Deacon, Usher, Youth leader and coach/pitcher of one of the men’s softball teams. Hugo was honored to be involved in many construction projects at Calvary as Superintendent for R. Larry Phillips Construction Company. He also took pride in his many other large construction projects throughout the Columbus area.
He was a man’s man who was a sports fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing, yet did not want to miss an episode of General Hospital. Hugo always brought people together with his jokes and stories about the “good ole days”.
Hugo was preceded in death by his parents, Brady and Minnie Lou Sheppard; son, Kevin (Big Dawg) Sheppard; brother, Billy Sheppard and his sister, Barbara Sheppard.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Camilla Green Sheppard; son, Jason Sheppard; grandchildren, Taylor Sheppard, David Sheppard, Kaylee Sheppard and Sarah Sheppard; Great-grandson, Bentley Sheppard; sisters, Jewell Nichols of Westin, Georgia and Merle Gordon of Dothan, Alabama and many other adoring family members and friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church 7556 Old Moon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31909.
