James Larry Langford

Ret. LTC Chaplain James Larry Langford, 82, of Columbus, GA died Monday, March 7, 2022 at his residence after an extended illness.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Allison Owen and Ret. Col. Chaplain Kerry M. Steedley officiating. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Mr. Langford was born November 27, 1939 in Vienna, GA to the late J.C. and Myrtis Langford. He retired from serving in the Military with 21 years of service and also retired from the Ministry after 54 years of service. He was a member and former pastor at New Hope Baptist Church in Louvale, GA until his health issues prompted his retirement. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene Langford and Jimmy Langford and sister, Patricia Wilkes.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years and caretaker, Gelaine Langford of Columbus, GA, cherished daughter, Tanya Campbell (Tim) of Pine Mountain Valley, GA, cherished son, Jamie Langford (Amanda) of St. Augustine, FL, two dearly loved grandsons, Tyler Jones and Hudson Jones of Pine Mountain Valley, GA, two beloved grand dogs Jameson Campbell of Pine Mountain Valley, GA and Yoda Langford of St. Augustine, FL, and sister, Brenda Steedley (Kerry) of Mobile, AL, sister-in-law, Kay Langford of Vienna, GA and brother-in-law, Douglas Wilkes of Vienna, GA. Other survivors include cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
