John Eldridge Obituary
John M. Eldridge, 81, of Columbus, GA died Friday, April 8, 2016 at Green House II of the Gardens of Calvary.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 11, 2016 at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Norman Drummond officiating, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Eldridge was born February 28, 1935 in Dale County, AL, son of the late Willie Eldridge and Beatrice Johnson Eldridge. He attended Southeastern University in Washington, DC, University of Georgia School of Banking in Athens, GA and Graduate School of Banking of the South Louisiana University in Baton Rouge, LA. He served in the United States Army. He retired as Vice President of SunTrust Bank, West Georgia. He previously worked as Branch Manager of SunTrust Bank, West Georgia , Columbus, Georgia. He was Bank Administration Institute, Past President and Board Member, American Institute of Banking, Past President and Board Member, Columbus Developmental Center, Past President and Board Member, Columbus Lions Club, Past President and Board Member, Leadership Columbus Graduate, United Way Volunteer and member of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce and Association of the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Emily Eldridge of Columbus, GA; daughter, Lisa Davis (Rhyne) of Charlotte, NC; son, Kevin Eldridge (Aimee) of Atlanta, GA; stepson, Robert E. Meeks, Jr, (Toni) of Fayetteville, NC; stepdaughter, Amy M. Allen (John) of Midland, GA; sister, June Dozier (David) of Midland City, AL; brother, Kent Eldridge (Mary) of Newville, AL; three grandchildren, Alex Eldridge, CaraEldridge and Jack Davis; and four stepgrandchildren, John Earl Allen, Cody M. Allen, Haywood A. Meeks, and Jacob A. Allen.
Flowers will be accepted; however, those so desiring may make contributions to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
