John Lee Proft

John Lee Proft, 75, of Cataula, GA passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Pierce Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Akin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

John was born August 6, 1948 in Evanston, IL to the late Harry Lawrence Proft and Angelina Barnabee Proft. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, he worked as a Vice President for Macy’s for over 30 years before retiring as Vice President of Ashley Home Store. He was an active member of Pierce Chapel Methodist church and loved spending time with his family. John was an avid sports fan, especially when cheering on his beloved Tennessee Vols. As someone who loved dogs, he never met a dog that didn’t instantly love him, especially his late pug Corky.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yvonne Coley Proft, daughters, Coley Keirstead (Mike) of Suwanee, GA, Rayna Price (Drew) of Buford, GA, brother, Lawrence Proft of Chicago, IL, grandchildren, Madigan and Britin Keirstead, Riley and Austin Price.
